Job summary

The Highlands at Harbor Springs is seeking cafe baristas to join our team for the seasonal season. You will handle coffee orders, take payments, and help with retail items while enjoying a range of resort perks.

We offer flexible scheduling with a mix of full-time or part-time shifts, plus benefits such as health insurance for eligible staff and housing availability. Previous barista or retail experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certification: ServSafe (or obtain upon hire)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year; prior barista or retail sales experience preferred
• Skills: Knowledge of espresso machines and coffee preparation, customer service, attention to detail, and good communication
• POS/System: Experience with POS systems helpful

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas.
• Receive and process customer payments.
• Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, bagels, or sandwiches.
• Follow all health regulations and assist in maintaining a sanitary environment.
• Describe menu items to customers or suggest products that might appeal to them.
• Upsell food and beverage items by using suggestive selling techniques.
• Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
• Perform side work at the start and end of each shift as required by service station assignment.
• Accurately process the receipts/bank/sales for the day
• Respond promptly and courteously to any customer requests.
• Provide customers with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions.
• Provide customers the help they may need for our many retail items
• Communicates absences and schedule changes promptly.
• Answer questions about our food, beverages, and other restaurant functions and services.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by your manager

You will be responsible for taking and making coffee orders as well as taking payments and maintaining inventory. You will also be responsible for the sale of our retail items as well.
