Gestamp is seeking a CAE Engineer to lead virtual simulations for automotive chassis structures. The role emphasizes developing, validating, and interpreting FE models using industry-standard tools to optimize performance while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and OEM teams to deliver lightweight, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. The position requires strong analytical thinking and communication throughout the product
The CAE Engineer is responsible for the development, execution, and interpretation of virtual engineering simulations supporting automotive product development programs. This primary role performs structural, NVH, and fatigue analyses to evaluate and optimize automotive chassis structures. Evaluation of crash simulations is an added advantage.
The position collaborates closely with Product Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Program Managers, and OEM customers to develop innovative, lightweight, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions that meet performance, safety, quality, regulatory, and timing requirements. The CAE Engineer provides analytical leadership throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept development through production release.
Develop, build, validate, debug, and maintain finite element models for automotive components, assemblies, and vehicle structures, especially for automotive chassis products.
Perform linear and nonlinear, NVH, durability, optimization, and life prediction simulations using various industry-standard tools such as Nastran, OptiStruct, Abaqus, and nCode.
Evaluate product performance against OEM specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal engineering standards.
Conduct correlation and validation activities using physical test results where applicable.
Participate in design reviews, program reviews, and customer technical discussions.
Prepare technical reports and lead technical reviews related to simulation models, methodologies, and performance assessments.
Possess a good understanding of steel and aluminum material grades specific to chassis products.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required; Master's Degree preferred.
5-7 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry. Experience working directly with OEMs is preferred.
CAE Solvers: NASTRAN, OptiStruct, nCode DesignLife/FEMFAT, and Abaqus.
Pre/Post Processing & Meshing: HyperMesh/ANSA, HyperView/META, HyperCrash.
Optimization: LS-OPT, OptiStruct, and HyperStudy.
Productivity Software: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
