Job summary

Georgia Military College seeks a Tactical Officer (TAC) who will train, advise, and lead cadets within the Corps of Cadets. The role emphasizes health, welfare, discipline, and character development, reporting to the Deputy Commandant of Cadets.

The TAC will supervise cadets, manage residential coverage for female cadets, and mentor leaders while ensuring privacy and safety. Prior military or law enforcement experience is preferred, with strong leadership and confidentiality skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Former Law Enforcement / First Responder, High School Teacher with at least five years of experience or successful completion of at least one military enlistment followed by an honorable discharge, current service in the United States National Guard or Reserve.
• Demonstrated military leadership, supervisory, training, counseling, or personnel-accountability experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related systems.
• Ability to work varied shifts and participate in physical fitness activities.
• Ability to wear the appropriate military uniform.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and leadership to assigned cadets and promote their health, welfare, safety, accountability, good order, and discipline.
• Enforce Corps of Cadets policies, standards, and procedures consistently and document counseling, incidents, corrective actions, and follow-up appropriately.
• Teach, coach, and mentor cadet battalion and company leadership teams; guide on leadership, accountability, ethics, and GMC values.
• Assist cadet leaders in planning, coordinating, and executing battalion-level training and daily Corps operations.
• Maintain presence in female cadet residential areas and oversee privacy-sensitive coverage.
• Monitor cadets’ study habits, class attendance, academic performance, and progress toward standards; counsel and refer as needed.
• Manage cadet administrative functions, records, training, inspections, and reports.
• Represent the Corps during recruitment, campus events, and other functions.
