Responsibilities

  • Perform earthwork estimates and quantity takeoffs to support design decisions.
  • Coordinate civil drawings with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other disciplines.
  • Prepare redlines and as-built documentation as required.

Job Title: CADD TechnicianJob Description

The CADD Technician will use advanced AutoCAD Civil 3D skills and strong civil engineering knowledge to independently transform survey data, engineering concepts, sketches, and design criteria into accurate, professional, and construction-ready civil engineering drawings and complete plan sets. This role is based in Panama City Beach, FL and focuses on the design and documentation of civil infrastructure, ensuring that drawings are coordinated, constructible, and compliant with project requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop complete civil engineering construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, producing accurate and professional plan sets suitable for permitting, bidding, and construction.

  • Create and manage Civil 3D objects including surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, assemblies, feature lines, grading objects, pipe networks, and pressure networks.

  • Produce existing and proposed ground surfaces, grading plans, drainage layouts, utility plans, roadway plans, profiles, cross sections, typical sections, and construction details.

  • Prepare plan and profile sheets, cross sections, typical sections, construction details, schedules, notes, legends, and comprehensive plan sets in accordance with project standards.

  • Process and incorporate survey data, points, field information, GIS data, aerial imagery, and existing-condition information into design models and drawings.

  • Perform earthwork and quantity calculations, surface analysis, volume comparisons, and material takeoffs to support design decisions and cost estimates.

  • Utilize Civil 3D data shortcuts, styles, label styles, templates, Sheet Set Manager, and automated plan-production tools to streamline drafting workflows and maintain consistency.

  • Prepare accurate PDFs and other digital project deliverables for permitting agencies, bidding processes, construction teams, and client review.

  • Maintain organized project files and adhere to established company CADD standards and quality-control procedures.

  • Work closely with professional engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, and other design professionals to support coordinated project delivery.

  • Interpret engineering sketches, markups, specifications, calculations, survey information, and field data, translating them into precise CADD drawings and construction documents.

  • Coordinate civil drawings with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, geotechnical, and other disciplines to ensure consistency and resolve conflicts.

  • Assist engineers with design development, technical exhibits, quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, permitting documents, and design revisions.

  • Incorporate review comments, permitting agency requirements, field changes, and construction revisions into updated drawings and plan sets.

  • Prepare redlines, record drawings, and as-built documentation as required at various project stages.

  • Identify drawing conflicts, inconsistencies, and potential constructability issues and communicate them proactively to the project team.

Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of professional civil engineering CADD and design experience, preferably with a civil engineering consultant, contractor, municipality, or design-build organization.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including demonstrated experience using the software for civil engineering design and construction-document production.

  • Strong understanding of civil infrastructure design, including grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, profiles, sections, and civil construction documents.

  • Ability to independently develop complete, accurate, and professional plan sets with limited supervision.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, surveys, calculations, and construction documents.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong quality-control skills when preparing and reviewing drawings.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain orderly project files and adhere to drafting standards.

  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, and other design professionals.

  • Solid time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in computer-aided drafting (CAD) design is preferred.

  • Experience with municipal infrastructure and land development projects.
  • Background in stormwater, drainage, water, sanitary sewer, lift stations, and wastewater systems.
  • Experience with roadway, bridge, parking, sidewalk, and transportation-related projects.
  • Exposure to aviation and airfield design projects.
  • Familiarity with GIS data and aerial imagery integration into civil design workflows.
  • Comfort using Sheet Set Manager and automated plan-production tools to enhance efficiency and consistency.
Work Environment

This role is based in an office environment in Panama City Beach, FL, working with modern computer-aided design tools and software, primarily AutoCAD Civil 3D and related CADD technologies. The CADD Technician collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, and inspectors, in a setting that emphasizes accuracy, coordination, and constructability. Work typically involves standard business hours, with the need to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $60000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
