Job summary

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising is seeking a Drafting Technician in Houston, Texas, to perform specific drafting assignments under supervision. The ideal candidate will prepare drawings and layouts using CAD software and demonstrate strong attention to detail and organization skills. Education should include an Associate or technical school degree. An understanding of engineering concepts is a plus. Responsibilities

• Perform discipline specific drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques under the direct supervision of an Architect/Engineer or other technical professional.
• Prepare drawings, layouts, sketches, maps and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer‑aided design software.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate or technical school degree, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Knowledge of standard CAD Software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Basic understanding of engineering or architectural concepts, workflows and deliverables.
