Job summary

LJA Engineering seeks a CAD Technician in Gainesville, FL to provide drafting support for projects, using surveying data and Florida standards. You will work with field crews, draft plats, sketches, and exhibits, and generate control sheets for construction layouts.

Ideal candidates bring 5–10 years of survey experience, CADD proficiency, and strong communication. This role is office/field-based with growth opportunities within a collaborative, employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Minimum of high school or technical school training with CAD courses.
• 5–10 years of survey experience.
• CADD experience required; Trimble Business Center preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication; team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Process field notes and data; interact with survey field crews.
• Create survey plats, sketches, and exhibits including surveys for builder services.
• Create Survey Control Data Sheets, Survey Control Index Sheets, Horizontal & Vertical Control Sheets.
• Compute data points for construction layout.
• Understand Florida standards of practice for surveying.
• Write and check Metes & Bounds descriptions.
