Job summary

CEM Corporation, based in Matthews, NC, seeks an experienced CAD Technician to support engineering through CAD drafting, modeling, and design documentation. You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to develop and sustain products, ensure CAD standards, and provide day-to-day CAD support.

The role requires 3+ years of CAD drafting experience, proficiency in 2D/3D CAD (Creo preferred), and strong attention to detail with good communication skills for cross-functional training

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate degree in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology or related field.
• At least 3+ years of professional CAD drafting/design/engineering support experience.
• Strong proficiency with 2D drafting and 3D parametric CAD modeling.
• Experience creating/ modifying drawings, assemblies, and CAD models in a product development/manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of engineering drawing standards, dimensioning and tolerancing.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to support new and existing products.
• Develop detailed drawings from concepts, specs, existing designs, and markup documents.
• Provide CAD design support for components, assemblies, cable/harness routing, PCB interfaces.
• Create/modify assembly procedures and other manufacturing documentation.
• Ensure drawings have appropriate dimensions, tolerances, and annotations.
• Review CAD drawings/models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
• Administer CAD software including licensing, updates, configurations, and user access.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce CAD standards, templates, libraries, and best practices.
• Train Engineering personnel to promote consistent use of CAD systems.
• Maintain CAD documentation and resources for consistency across projects.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing teams to support development and changes.
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to CAD processes and workflows.

This role is responsible for creating and modifying engineering drawings and models, maintaining CAD standards and resources, supporting CAD users, and reviewing engineering documentation for accuracy and consistency.The CAD Technician will work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, and other Engineering team members to support product development and sustaining engineering activities.
