Job summary

Baxter and Woodman Inc is seeking a CAD Technician / Designer to provide drafting and design support across civil engineering projects, including municipal infrastructure, site development, and institutional facilities. You will translate engineering concepts into detailed construction drawings and 3D models while ensuring CAD standards and project accuracy.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of civil CAD drafting/design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (model space, paper space).
• Experience preparing water/wastewater/stormwater plans.
• Ability to read engineering plans and surveys.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Team-oriented with ability to meet budgets and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Produce and edit civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation.
• Site layout and grading plans.
• Utility plans (water, wastewater, stormwater).
• Paving, drainage, and detention systems.
• Prepare Plan & Profile drawings for underground utilities and infrastructure.
• Perform site grading, terrain modeling, and preliminary layout of storm sewer and utilities.
• Produce exhibits, details, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure drawings comply with established CAD standards and project specifications.
• Manage and organize project files and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams while meeting project budget and deadline.

About the role, Your Impact

As a CAD Technician / Designer, you will provide drafting and design support across all phases of civil engineering projects, including municipal infrastructure, MILCON, institutional, commercial and residential site development. You will transform engineering concepts into detailed construction drawings and models while ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to CAD standards.

What your day-to-Day will look like

• Produce and edit civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation
• Site layout and grading plans
• Utility plans (water, wastewater, stormwater)
• Paving, drainage, and detention systems
• Prepare Plan & Profile drawings for underground utilities and infrastructure
• Perform site grading, terrain modeling, and preliminary layout of storm sewer and utilities
• Produce exhibits, details, and supporting documentation
• Ensure drawings comply with established CAD standards and project specifications
• Manage and organize project files and documentation
• Collaborate with engineers and project teams while meeting project budget and deadline

Must-haves, what you will bring

• 5 or more years of experience in civil CAD drafting/design for site development or municipal infrastructure
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (model space, paper space, base drawings)
• Preparing plans for water, wastewater, stormwater, and roadway systems
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and topographic surveys
• Strong understanding of site grading, geometry, drainage, and utility layouts
• Experience producing permit and construction drawing sets
• Strong organizational, communication, and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to work in a team environment on a variety of projects.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is $32.00-$42.00. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
