Job summary

Equiliem in Erlanger, KY is seeking a CAD Technician to create and modify 3D CAD models, prepare files for additive manufacturing, and operate 3D printing equipment. You will maintain documentation and support rapid prototyping in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has experience with CAD software, 3D printing technologies, and mechanical design principles, with attention to detail and strong teamwork abilities. This role offers hourly pay ranging from $30.00 to $31.00.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in CAD, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks (preferred), Fusion 360, or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies including FDM, SLA, SLS, or similar systems.
  • Experience preparing print files using slicing software such as Cura, Orca Slicer, Bambu Studio, or similar.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical design principles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with post-processing techniques including support removal, sanding, curing, and finishing preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to perform light physical work, including climbing ladders and handling equipment and materials.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a respirator, when handling designated materials.

Responsibilities

  • Create and modify 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Translate engineering concepts, sketches, and design inputs into manufacturable 3D models.
  • Prepare and optimize CAD files for additive manufacturing, including print orientation and support generation.
  • Maintain organized design files and version control throughout the product development process.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor FDM, SLA, SLS, or similar 3D printing equipment.
  • Prepare print jobs using slicing software such as Cura, Orca Slicer, Bambu Studio, or similar applications.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Manage print schedules and production priorities to meet project deadlines.
  • Perform post-processing activities including support removal, sanding, curing, and finishing.
  • Inspect printed parts for dimensional accuracy, quality, and compliance with design specifications.
  • Document production results and support continuous process improvements.
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to refine designs and prototype solutions.
  • Assist with material selection, prototype testing, and evaluation of new additive manufacturing processes.
  • Perform additional design and prototype support duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The CAD Designer / 3D Printing Technician is responsible for creating and modifying 3D CAD models, preparing files for additive manufacturing, operating 3D printing equipment, and performing post-processing and quality inspections. This hands‑on role supports product development by transforming engineering concepts into functional prototypes while maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring high-quality production. The ideal candidate has experience with CAD software, 3D printing technologies, and mechanical design principles in a fast‑paced product development environment.

Job Responsibilities
