Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking an experienced CAD Technician. The applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail-oriented individual interested in joining our Site/Civil department in our Danville, VA office, working with engineers, project managers, and other professionals. The applicant can be a remote worker. The applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, provide daily coordination with key staff, while assisting on multiple project designs. This position emphasizes design and plan set preparation of residential, multi-family, and commercial projects. Work activities may include grading, pipe networks, alignments, profiles, sections, and redline drafting for conceptual, preliminary, and final design drawings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide drafting and design services by preparing and maintaining AutoCAD Civil 3D engineering drawings that compile to create a set of permittable plans.
  • Prepare designs from general instruction and preliminary sketches, diagrams, or schematics.
  • Prepare working drawings from conceptual plan, development plan, final engineering documents, and construction record drawings.
  • Coordinate with other team members including engineers, managers, administrative staff, and construction staff members.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with emphasis in land development projects.
  • Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to create surfaces, alignments, and profiles.
  • Willingness to assist with a wide range of projects and work with multiple project managers.
  • Strong interest in all phases of Civil Engineering including land development, utilities, water resources, and construction.
  • High attention to detail, good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to ask for additional direction and assistance when needed.
