Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a CAD Technician for a world-leading materials science innovator in Christiansburg, VA on a contract basis. An Associate degree and 3+ years drafting experience with SolidWorks are required to support engineering.

You will create, revise, and manage technical drawings, collaborate with engineers, update drawings across mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing domains, and ensure document control using PDM/drawings vaults.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or related field.
• 3+ years of drafting experience.
• Proficient with SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise, control, and manage technical drawings and related documentation to support engineering, maintenance and operations teams.
• Convert conceptual or modeled designs into complete, high-quality drawing packages with engineers.
• Update existing mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing drawings based on field conditions, markups, legacy documents, or project changes.
• Ensure strict drawing accuracy and document control using PDM or drawing vault systems throughout the revision process.
• Identify and recommend continuous improvements to standard drawing, documentation, and general workflows.

• Support Our Client's engineering, maintenance, and operations teams by creating, revising, controlling, and managing technical drawings and related documentation.
• Work closely with engineers to convert conceptual or modeled designs into complete, high-quality drawing packages.
• Update existing mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing drawings based on field conditions, markups, legacy documents, or project changes.
• Ensure strict drawing accuracy and document control by utilizing PDM or drawing vault systems throughout the revision process.
• Identify and recommend continuous improvements to standard drawing, documentation, and general workflow processes.
