Job summary

Shaw Sports Turf is seeking an entry-level CAD Project Engineer to convert project concepts into technical drawings and manufacturing instructions for synthetic turf fields.

You will work with Sales, Operations and Manufacturing to transform designs into reality, while gaining hands-on experience in CAD design, turf systems and project execution.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Entry-level to 3 years CAD drafting experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Ability to read plans, specs and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Create shop drawings and field renderings for synthetic turf projects with guidance from senior team members.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and material calculations for accurate project planning.
• Review project plans and specifications to ensure designs meet requirements.
• Learn sports field layouts, standards and Shaw product systems.
• Support distributor accounts and assist with project execution.
• Help design Game On field projects with customized field graphics and layouts.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations and Manufacturing to move projects from concept to finished product.
• Maintain project information and supporting documentation.
• Develop expertise in AutoCAD and internal project workflows.
• Take on increasing project ownership as your knowledge grows.

As a CAD Project Engineer with Shaw Sports Turf®, you’ll help transform project plans and creative field concepts into the technical drawings, layouts and manufacturing instructions needed to build synthetic turf fields. You’ll work across Sales, Operations and Manufacturing while developing hands-on experience in CAD design, sports field layouts, turf systems and project execution.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll develop the technical foundation to support synthetic turf projects from design through execution. You’ll:

• Create shop drawings, field renderings and tufting instructions for synthetic turf projects with guidance from experienced team members.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and material calculations to support accurate project planning.
• Review project plans, specifications and scopes of work to help ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Learn sports field layouts, dimensions, governing standards and Shaw Sports Turf product systems.
• Support assigned distributor accounts and assist with project execution.
• Help design and execute Game On® field projects, building experience with customized field graphics, markings and layouts.
• Partner with Sales, Operations and Manufacturing to move projects from concept to finished product.
• Maintain accurate project information, distributor notes and supporting documentation.
• Continue developing expertise in AutoCAD, internal systems and project workflows.
• Take on increasing project ownership as your technical knowledge and experience grow.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Design or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Entry-level experience through up to three years of relevant CAD drafting experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn quicky and adapt in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
