Job summary

SCG Fields, LLC is seeking a CAD Technician to develop and maintain detailed drawings and construction documentation to support project planning and field operations. You will collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Design Professionals, and construction teams to translate concepts into precise 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD and related software.

Ideal candidates bring 1–5 years of CAD drafting experience, an associated or bachelor’s degree in a related field, and proficiency with Autodesk

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and maintain detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, site plans, shop drawings using AutoCAD and design software.
  • Translate concepts and engineering specs into accurate construction drawings.
  • Collaborate with PMs, Engineers, and Construction teams to incorporate requirements into drawings.
  • Review plans to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with specs.
  • Prepare design documentation, revisions, and clarifications for field operations.
  • Continuously improve drafting procedures and stay current with CAD standards.

The Role

The CAD Technician is responsible for developing, preparing, and maintaining accurate technical drawings, design plans, and construction documentation to support the successful planning and execution of SCG Fields' projects. This position plays an important role in transforming project concepts, specifications, and technical requirements into detailed, construction-ready drawings that support design coordination, project planning, and field operations.

Working collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, Design Professionals, and Construction Teams, the CAD Technician ensures that project drawings and documentation meet established quality standards, technical requirements, and project objectives. This role requires strong technical proficiency, exceptional attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple assignments while supporting SCG Fields' commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Do
Design Development & Technical Drafting
  • Develop, modify, and maintain detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, site plans, shop drawings, and other technical documentation utilizing AutoCAD and applicable design software.
  • Translate conceptual designs, engineering specifications, site information, and project requirements into accurate, comprehensive technical drawings.
  • Assist in the conceptualization, development, and execution of design projects from initial planning through construction and project completion.
  • Prepare and revise construction documents, design layouts, grading plans, and other project-specific drawings as required.
  • Review and interpret architectural, civil, structural, and other technical plans to ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project specifications.
  • Research construction materials, design methods, industry practices, and emerging technologies to support project feasibility and informed design decisions.
Project Coordination & Construction Support
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other project team members to incorporate technical, structural, and functional requirements into project drawings and design plans.
  • Coordinate with design and construction teams to identify potential design conflicts, resolve drawing discrepancies, and support efficient project execution.
  • Assist with the implementation of project designs by providing technical drawings, revisions, and clarification to construction and field operations teams.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and communicate design concepts, drawing updates, and technical information to internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation of design presentations, renderings, and other visual materials to effectively communicate project concepts and proposed solutions.
  • Provide drafting and technical support throughout the project lifecycle to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in construction documentation.
Project Management & Documentation
  • Manage multiple drafting and design assignments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, organization, and adherence to established project deadlines.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including drawings, specifications, design revisions, and related technical records.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, estimates, bids, contracts, and presentations by providing relevant drawings, quantities, and technical information.
  • Monitor assigned deliverables and coordinate with project team members to ensure timely completion of design-related tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve drafting procedures, design accuracy, documentation standards, and overall departmental efficiency.
  • Stay informed of advancements in CAD technologies, industry standards, software applications, and best practices through ongoing professional development.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–5 years of professional experience in CAD drafting, design development, or a related technical discipline.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, Bluebeam, AGTEK, or similar design and drafting software.
  • Familiarity with site development, grading, earthwork, and construction-related design applications.
  • Previous experience supporting construction projects through technical drafting, design coordination, and field implementation.
