Job summary

Selectek, Inc. is seeking a mechanical design engineer or designer to support production of rotary dryer equipment. You will create and release detailed drawings, BOMs, and installation documents, working with engineering, shop teams, and customers.

You will use AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks) to develop part, weldment, and assembly drawings, interpret existing designs, and ensure documents meet internal standards and fabrication needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with internship experience or 2+ years of similar work experience.
  • Ability to create accurate detail drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and either Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed part, weldment, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Interpret existing drawings and revise or update designs as needed.
  • Create installation drawings and ensure all title block information follows internal standards.
  • Generate Bills of Materials and specify materials such as sheet metal, structural steel, bearings, reducers, hardware, and related components.
  • Research previous job documentation and drawing archives for reference and reuse opportunities.
  • Support the fabrication shop by answering questions, resolving design issues, and ensuring drawings are manufacturable.
  • Conduct measurements of equipment components and assemblies for reverse-engineering or validation purposes.
  • Communicate with customers and internal teams to clarify project details or equipment requirements.
  • Follow engineering workflow procedures for drawing creation, checking, approval, archiving, and release for fabrication.
  • Assist team members with coordinated engineering tasks and shared projects.
  • Perform engineering filing, data entry, and general documentation management.
  • Perform calculations for equipment sizing and weights & loads

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a mechanical design engineer or an experienced mechanical designer to join our clients team and assist with production work.

This role is responsible for creating, updating, and releasing detailed engineering drawings and documentation used in the fabrication and support of rotary dryer equipment. This role involves producing part, weldment, assembly, and installation drawings, generating bills of materials, and supporting the manufacturing process through clear and accurate technical documentation. This CAD Operator works closely with engineering leadership, shop fabrication teams, sales representatives, and customers to ensure that all parts and assemblies are designed to specification and released in accordance with internal procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Required
  • Strong Mechanical Design Aptitude
  • 3D Software proficiency with either Inventor or Solidworks
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • Ability to create accurate detail drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of material
  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering with internship experience or 2 plus year of similar work experience.
