Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a Senior CAD Drafter to produce detailed fabrication, assembly, and bid package drawings for rotating equipment, sheet metal and structural systems. You will convert engineering concepts and P&IDs into clear 2D and 3D CAD deliverables, ensure drawing compliance with standards, and support estimating, fabrication and field teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional CAD drafting experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for 2D and 3D deliverables.
• Experience interpreting P&IDs, isometrics and mechanical/electrical schematics.
• Experience preparing bid package drawings and fabrication packages.
• Strong knowledge of welding symbols, GD&T, and industry codes.
• Familiarity with rotating equipment and related mating/connection details.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D fabrication and assembly drawings for rotating equipment, sheet metal, structural components and welded assemblies using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain bid package drawings and fabrication packages, including BOMs, weld symbols, tolerances and material callouts.
• Interpret P&IDs, isometrics and sketches to generate accurate equipment and piping-related CAD drawings and tie-in details.
• Produce structural details and ensure proper connections, supports, and load paths are documented for fabrication and erection.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, estimators and shop personnel to resolve design and constructability issues and implement revisions through drawing updates.
• Perform drawing QA/QC checks for completeness, accuracy, adherence to drafting standards, and proper use of layers and naming conventions.
• Provide guidance and training to junior drafters; review their work and enforce CAD standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with fabrication shops and vendors to verify fit, clearances and welding requirements; incorporate vendor data into drawings.
• Manage drawing revisions, transmittals, and document control for project deliverables.
• Occasionally visit shop or project sites to support fabrication, troubleshooting, and installation as required.

Senior CAD Drafter

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior CAD Drafter to produce detailed fabrication, assembly, and bid package drawings for rotating equipment, sheet metal and structural systems. This role will convert engineering concepts and P&IDs into clear 2D and 3D CAD deliverables, ensure drawing compliance with company and industry standards, and support estimating, fabrication and field teams. The Senior CAD Drafter will also mentor junior drafters and coordinate with engineers, fabricators and project managers to deliver accurate, buildable documentation on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D fabrication and assembly drawings for rotating equipment, sheet metal, structural components and welded assemblies using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain bid package drawings and comprehensive fabrication packages, including dimensions, material callouts, weld symbols, tolerances and Bill of Materials.
• Interpret P&IDs, isometrics and engineering sketches to generate accurate equipment and piping-related CAD drawings and tie-in details.
• Produce structural details and ensure proper connections, supports and load paths are documented for fabrication and erection.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, estimators and shop personnel to resolve design and constructability issues and implement revisions through controlled drawing updates.

• Provide guidance and training to junior drafters; review their work and enforce CAD standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional CAD drafting experience, preferably in industrial equipment, rotating machinery or fabrication environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks; experience producing both 2D and 3D deliverables.
• Hands-on experience with sheet metal layout, welding detail and structural detailing.
• Proven ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics and mechanical/electrical schematics.
• Experience preparing bid package drawings and complete fabrication packages for contractors and vendors.
• Strong knowledge of welding symbols, GD&T, materials callouts, and common industry codes/standards (ASME, AWS, ANSI as applicable).
• Familiarity with rotating equipment machinery and related mating/connection details.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and ability to work under schedule pressure.
• Good communication and collaboration skills; experience coordinating with engineers, estimators and fabricators.
