Job summary

Sehlhorst Equipment Services is seeking a motivated Layout Engineer Co-op to join our team. This role offers a hands-on opportunity for a college student pursuing Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering to assist in equipment and facility layout design and supporting production systems.

You will collaborate with engineers, PMs, and shop personnel to gather requirements, develop 2D/3D drawings, and participate in site visits.

Qualifications

Pursuing a college/university degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
Sophomore, junior, or senior standing preferred
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar) preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Willingness to learn and take initiative
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

Responsibilities

Create and revise equipment and facility layout drawings using CAD software.
Support space planning and workflow optimization projects.
Collaborate with engineers, PMs, and shop personnel to gather layout requirements.
Develop and update 2D/3D models and technical drawings.
Participate in site visits and measurements to verify existing conditions.
Assist with documentation, redlines, and drawing revisions; support project teams with technical research and data collection.
Present findings or project updates to team members as needed.
