Job summary

Southern Utah University is seeking a part-time CAD lab assistant to support evening projects. You will help students, organize digital and physical floor plans, and assist CAD professors while ensuring proper handling of expensive equipment.

The role requires basic AutoCAD skills and the ability to work independently during evening hours (5:00–10:00 pm) when students are present.

Qualifications

• Must have basic proficiency with AutoCAD for simple 2D drafting and editing.
• Must be willing to manage expensive technical equipment.
• Must be able and willing to take charge in a class/lab situation and enforce lab policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform supporting tasks such as file organizing, file editing, and basic AutoCAD usage.
• Aid in sorting, scanning, and filing physical copies of floor plans and record drawings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work in CAD lab in the evenings when students are working on projects. Will assist students as needed. Will manage expensive technical equipment. Will assist CAD professors as needed.This role supports a team by organizing and editing digital and physical files, especially floor plans, and helping with building inventory. It requires basic proficiency with AutoCAD for simple 2D drafting and editing.

Responsibilities:

• Perform supporting tasks such as file organizing, file editing, and basic AutoCAD usage.
• Aid in sorting, scanning, and filing physical copies of floor plans and record drawings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Must have a strong work ethic.
• Must be highly motivated.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must know AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks and Revit.
• Must be willing to be responsible for managing expensive technical equipment.
• Must be able and willing to take charge in a class/lab situation.
• Must be able and willing to enforce lab policies.
• Must be willing to work between the hours of 5:00-10:00 pm.(not necessarily all of that time).
• Must have willingness to learn how to use equipment.
• Must be willing to document technical processes.
