Job summary

Knowles Precision Devices in New York is seeking a CAD Engineer to support product design, development, and production improvement, creating 2D drawings and tooling orders while driving automation and process enhancement.

The role requires AutoCAD expertise, experience with drafting and tooling, and the ability to work with cross functional teams to meet timelines and quality standards.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in engineering, science, technology + a minimum 1 years of applicable hands on experience (Drafting, Machine Shops, Commercial 3D Printing, etc.)
• Product design and manufacturing experience is preferred
• Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings & specifications
• Effective time management skills
• Accountability to the timelines of task completion
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Exceptional multi-tasking skills
• Knowledge of polyline, hatch, boundary, block, insert, dimension, offset, viewport, scale, stretch, and trim commands in AutoCAD
• Understanding of viewports, workspaces, layer manager, and drawing properties in AutoCAD.
• Working understanding of Finite Element Analysis.
• Programming, Autodesk, CNC, and BobCAD software experience preferred.
• All applications MUST be eligible to work in the US without restriction to ITAR documentation and materials. No exceptions.
• Must be a US Citizen, legal permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

• Support product design, product development, and production improvement.
• Create AutoCAD templates and commands using AutoLisp.
• Streamline the CAD process by leading continuous improvement projects.
• Creation of production drawings and initial support of tooling purchases.
• Artwork file generation for assembly tooling, laser drill pattern, and lithography mask design.
• Write and update procedures, project plans, and other documentation as required.
• Generate process routers using ORACLE
• Generate inspection specifications using UniPoint.
• Mentor team on AutoCAD functions and drafting skills.
• Assist with training of new team members.
• Provide manufacturing support, as needed.
