Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking an engineering drafting specialist in Oklahoma to create, revise and maintain engineering drawings, sketches, and related records. The role emphasizes CAD proficiency, attention to detail, and collaboration across teams to ensure accuracy and safety in facilities and equipment documentation.

You will read vendor prints and installation instructions, perform calculations, and assist in training others.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or CAD (AAS) or equivalent experience with 1–2 years related drafting work.
• Equivalent experience without AAS: high school diploma with 6 years of electric utility/related drafting experience.
• Familiar with conventional drafting symbols and methods; able to distinguish colors.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a vehicle.
• Occasional overnight travel to substations or power plants per safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Create, revise and maintain engineering drawings and sketches.
• Support creation and maintenance of facilities and equipment documents and records.
• Read vendor prints and drawings and incorporate information into work.
