Role Description

This CAD Technician I role is a key team member and their knowledge and ideas are an integral part of the design team. This position is an on-site position based in the Albany, New York Metropolitan Area, or could be a hybrid position. It would depend on the right candidate for the job. The drafter will prepare detailed architectural drawings and technical documents from sketches, concepts, and specifications provided by architects and designers. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and revising CAD plans, sections, elevations, and details; organizing drawing sets; and ensuring accuracy and consistency across all documents. The role also involves coordinating with project team members, incorporating design changes, maintaining drawing standards and file organization, and assisting in visualization materials such as diagrams and basic presentation drawings. The drafter will support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and adhering to firm and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Architectural Technology, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of professional architectural drafting experience in an architecture or engineering office.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Autodesk Revit experience producing architectural construction documents.
• Demonstrated experience preparing permit, bid, and construction document sets for commercial, institutional, municipal, educational, or residential projects.
• Proficiency in creating and modifying floor plans, elevations, building sections, wall sections, construction details, schedules, and sheet layouts.
• Experience modeling and documenting existing buildings, renovations, additions, and adaptive reuse projects.
• Working knowledge of architectural building systems, construction methods, materials, and detailing practices.
• Experience coordinating drawings and models with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing consultants.
• Strong understanding of Revit worksharing, project standards, view templates, scheduling, and sheet management.
• Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD and the ability to work with legacy CAD backgrounds and details.
• Ability to accurately interpret sketches, markups, redlines, and design direction from project architects and project managers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Timber Frame construction, hospitality, custom residential, or light commercial projects.
• Experience performing field measurements and preparing existing-condition drawings.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, and Bluebeam Revu.
• Knowledge of applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and construction document standards.
