Job summary

Bell Cabinetry, LLC is seeking a CAD Drafter to translate design concepts into buildable Bell-standard cabinet drawings and models. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, and the shop to ensure constructability and accurate documentation.

Applicants should have 1–3 years of drafting experience in cabinetry or millwork, familiarity with Cabinet Vision or similar tools, and the ability to read architectural drawings and field notes. A high school diploma or GED is required.

CAD Drafter - Custom Cabinetry

This role sits between design intent and engineering. You translate design concept from internal and external customers into Bell-standard product configurations. We need an architectural eye: someone who can speak the designer’s language and still protect what engineering and the shop have to build next. Designers own concept and finishes. The CAD Drafter owns the first buildable Bell model and the drawings that carry intent. Engineering owns construction, machining, and release.

What you will do

• Turn layouts, walkthroughs, interior elevations, and field measures into accurate Cabinet Vision jobs using Bell catalog and construction standards.
• Produce clear floor plans, elevations, sections, and notes that designers, PMs, engineering, and the shop can trust.
• Keep the model inside Bell-standard configurations. Do not invent one-off construction the floor cannot run.
• Speak design language (look, finish, proportion, reveal, appliance composition) without losing constructability (scribe, finished ends, fillers, hardware clearance, stacking).
• Make small, coordinated edits after design review. Bounce real scope changes back through the process instead of silently rebuilding.
• Flag missing dimensions, clashes, and foreseeable shop or engineering issues early. Consult engineering on unknowns before the file moves.
• Hand an approved, documented job to engineering for hardware, machining, and release.
• Have a strong attention to detail with the ability to check and execute according to product and drawing standards.
• Meet quality, revision, and turnaround expectations in a high-mix custom environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• 1-3 years drafting custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, interiors, or related design-to-engineering documentation.
• Portfolio or work samples that show floor plans, elevations, and notes, not only 3D pictures.
• Experience taking design intent (architect, designer, or client) and turning it into buildable drawings engineering can take forward.
• Working knowledge of at least one design or millwork platform, with flexibility across tools: Cabinet Vision, Chief Architect, AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 2020, Microvellum, Mozaik, SWOOD, or similar. Willingness to learn Cabinet Vision is required; prior CV is not.
• Ability to read architectural drawings, interior elevations, and field notes.
• Working knowledge of how cabinets go together: boxes, doors, panels, fillers, clearances, basic hardware.
• Comfort working with engineering: asking the right questions, taking redlines, and not handing off a guess.
• Precise, self-directed, and clear in writing. Notes must be usable by engineering and the shop.

Preferred qualifications

• 3-5 years in custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, or high-end kitchen/bath documentation.
• Cabinet Vision experience. Strong substitutes: AutoCAD millwork, Revit casework, Chief Architect or 20-20 into shop drawings.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s in architecture, interior architecture, drafting/design technology, engineering technology, or a related field.
• Comfortable in a designer conversation and an engineering or shop conversation on the same job.
• Kitchen and bath constructability: appliances, scribe, finished ends, stacking, toe kicks.
• Exposure to engineering release, nesting, or CNC is a plus, not a requirement.
