Job summary

Dayton Superior is seeking a detail-oriented drafter to produce material/component details from contractor drawings and blueprints. The role uses AutoCAD to prepare layouts and collaborates with customers to confirm scope and requirements, with on-site work in a diverse, safety-conscious environment.

You will maintain project status in the PM system, review drawings for adherence to standards, and support engineering with drafting tasks.

Qualifications

• Requires technical certification or associate degree in related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in a related area.
• Construction/ drafting background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Detail required material/components from drawings, plans, or blueprints.
• Prepare layouts according to specifications using AutoCAD or similar tool.
• Review plans with customers to determine scope and requirements.
• Reconcile back-logs for finished material/components and ordered amounts.
• Verify adherence to standard practices; copy, print, and distribute detail plans.
• Maintain and update project status in the project management system.

Responsible for detailing material/components from contractor drawings, plans, or blueprints.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Details required material/components using AutoCAD or other method. Prepares layouts according to specifications.
• Interacts with customers to review plans to determine scope and other requirements of the job.
• Back-logs reconciliation pertaining to finished material/components and ordered amounts.
• Reviews drawings and supporting documentation to verify adherence to standard practices. Copies, prints, and distributes finished detail plans to customers.
• Assists with maintaining and updating project status in the project management system of record.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Nature and Scope

• May modify processes to resolve situations.
• Under limited supervision, relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes. Course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies. Work typically involves periodic review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
• Is sought out and/or assigned to provide general guidance/direction, training, and technical assistance to junior level support personnel. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring/firing authority.

Work Environment

• Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors, such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
• Most of the time is spent sitting or standing in the same location and/or there may be a need to stoop regularly or move/lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

• Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 5-7 years of experience in a related area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate of completion in drafting, industrial drafting/design, or construction from a technical school and/or college/university.
• Work experience in construction, manufacturing, fabrication or drafting.
• Engineering background preferred.
