Job summary

Lou-Rich Inc. is seeking a CAD Drafter to generate detailed drawings and CAD models. You will transform sketches into precise designs, manage tolerances, and support engineering with technical drawings and revisions.

The role emphasizes SolidWorks proficiency, multi-tasking in a TEAM environment, and adherence to manufacturing standards. The position requires 1–2 years of mechanical drawing education or equivalent experience, with a strong background in CAD and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years college or trade school in mechanical drawing or related areas is helpful
• Well-rounded, practical experience may be substituted for formal training
• Able to move from design concept to finished design, including layouts and tolerance valuations and detail drawings
• Minimum five years’ on‑job experience
• A thorough knowledge of manufacturing methods and machine shop practices
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• PC skills including ERP, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, and Intranet/Intranet, is a plus
• A strong ability to set and prioritize goals
• Ability to multi-task within a TEAM environment
• A positive can‑do attitude
• Strong motivation to succeed

• Model and Drawing creation in SolidWorks
• Review of technical specifications
• Review of customer supplied drawings
• Assist in large project management and production applications
• Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project
• Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, metal materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
• Make any adjustments or changes necessary or desired
• Draws finished designs from sketches
• Other duties as assigned (may include assisting in tool design.)

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings from sketches or layouts
• Create layouts and parts lists as needed
• Perform geometric, trigonometric, or algebraic calculations
• Use drafting tools and CAD for detailing work
• Provide technical assistance to engineering
• Create customer approval drawings for new products
• Maintain engineering drawings for manufactured products
• Analyze and implement customer revisions
