Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Contract-to-Hire Designer to support our engineering team in Madison, WI. You will create and update 2D/3D models and production drawings for mechanical components, with hands-on design work and project ownership.

You will collaborate with engineers and manufacturing to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability, applying GD&T and drafting standards. This onsite role offers exposure to new product development within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and production drawings.
• 0–2 years of experience in a CAD or mechanical design role.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Create and update 2D and 3D models using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Develop production drawings for sheet metal, plastic, and mechanical components.
• Revise existing designs and documentation to support engineering changes.
• Prepare accurate manufacturing documentation and drawing packages.
• Support product development through component and assembly design.
• Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure design accuracy and manufacturability.
• Apply drafting standards and GD&T principles where applicable.
• Manage assigned projects and meet design deadlines.
