Job summary

KIHOMAC seeks an experienced CAD engineer to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models, review data, and define manufacturing documentation. You will support tooling needs, assist CNC workflows, and collaborate with engineers and the shop to resolve design challenges.

Ideal candidates bring 4+ years in SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Inventor/NX, GD&T expertise, and familiarity with aerospace or precision machining projects. This on-site position requires US citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4+ years of experience using 2D/3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, NX.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional mathematics, physics, and manufacturing materials.
  • Working knowledge of ASME Y14 engineering standards.
  • Experience in aerospace, precision machining, and reverse engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 2D production drawings and 3D solid/surface models using CAD software.
  • Review technical data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Define processes and develop documentation.
  • Identify tooling, jig and fixture requirements and input designs.
  • Support CNC file development, testing and implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot issues.
  • Update designs based on feedback and changing project scopes.
  • Report project status and results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Expertise and Functions
  • Develop detailed 2D production drawings and 3D solid/surface models using specialized software, including:
    • Review of part/component/system technical data for completeness and accuracy
    • Processes definition and development of documentation
    • Identification of tooling, jig and fixture requirements and input/review of engineering designs
    • Support CNC file development, test and implementation as needed
  • Identify design interferences, manufacturing concerns and drawing discrepancies
  • Provide support to Project Manager and Engineering personnel in scheduling, data gathering, and preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers and manufacturing team members to understand specifications and troubleshoot potential design or compatibility issues
  • Ability to interpolate or derive data when working with incomplete technical data to support reverse engineering efforts
  • Update and modify designs based on client feedback, testing results, or changing project scopes
  • Participate in project events as needed by Project Manager, Engineering, or supervisor
  • Report project status and results
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Training
  • Associate’s Degree in technical/scientific discipline or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience
  • 4+ years of experience using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, NX or comparable platforms
  • A strong understanding of dimensional mathematics, physics, and manufacturing or construction materials
  • Working knowledge of applicable ASME Y14 engineering standards
  • Knowledge and experience in aerospace, precision machining, and reverse engineering projects
  • Commercial product and automotive component design
  • GD&T and related dimensional measurements
Security
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while seated or standing at a desk
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
