Job summary

KIHOMAC, Inc. seeks a CAD Engineer to develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or NX. You will review technical data for accuracy, define tooling needs, and support CNC file development.

Applicants should have 4+ years of CAD experience, a solid grounding in dimensional math and physics, and familiarity with ASME Y14 standards. Collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams is essential to succeed.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, NX or comparable platforms.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional mathematics, physics, and manufacturing materials.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14 standards and reverse engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 2D production drawings and 3D solid/surface models.
  • Review technical data for completeness and accuracy; develop documentation.
  • Identify tooling, jig and fixture requirements and support input in designs.
  • Support CNC file development, testing and implementation as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing to resolve design issues.
  • Update designs based on client feedback or changing scopes.
  • Report project status and results; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Expertise and Functions
  • Develop detailed 2D production drawings and 3D solid/surface models using specialized software including:
    • Review of part/component/system technical data for completeness and accuracy
    • Processes definition & development of documentation
    • Identification of tooling, jig and fixture requirements & support/input/review of engineering designs
    • Support CNC file development, test and implementation as needed
  • Identify design interferences, manufacturing concerns and drawing discrepancies
  • Provide support to Project Manager and Engineering personnel in the areas of scheduling, data gathering/limited analyses preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, specifications and associated documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, manufacturing team members to understand specifications and troubleshoot potential design or compatibility issues
  • Ability to interpolate or derive data when working with incomplete technical data to support reverse engineering efforts
  • Update and modify designs based on client feedback, testing results, or changing project scopes
  • Participate in project events as needed by Project Manager, Engineering, or supervisor
  • Report project status and results
  • Other duties as assigned
Education/Training
  • Associate's Degree in technical/scientific discipline or equivalent work experience preferred
Experience
  • 4+ years of experience using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, NX or comparable platforms.
  • A strong understanding of dimensional mathematics, physics, and manufacturing or construction materials[LR1]
  • Knowledge and experience in the following preferred:
    • Aerospace, precision machining and reverse engineering projects
    • Commercial product and automotive component design
  • Working knowledge of applicable ASME Y14 engineering standards
  • A strong understanding of dimensional mathematics, GD&T, physics, and manufacturing or construction materials

Security
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
  • Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, grasp, handle and operate hand/power tools and machine controls
  • Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
  • Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, etc.) for the assigned task
  • Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time
