The CAD Designer II is a developing designer who performs a variety of design and drafting assignments in support of Ovivo water and wastewater treatment equipment projects. Working under the guidance of Senior and Lead Designers, this role is responsible for creating accurate 3D models and fabrication drawings while building proficiency in CAD systems, design standards, and skid-based equipment design.
A successful CAD Designer II demonstrates strong attention to detail, effective organizational skills, and the ability to deliver quality work on assigned projects. This individual works collaboratively with engineering, project teams, and other designers to support successful project execution while continuing to expand their technical knowledge and design capabilities.

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Create and revise 3D models and fabrication drawings, including skid general arrangements, frame drawings, ISO/spool drawings, and layouts using Ovivo CAD standards.
- Assist with the design and modeling of treatment skids, including pump skids, filtration skids, piping systems, and supports.
- Review project drawings, P&IDs, and specifications to understand project requirements and design scope.
- Prepare design documentation in both Metric and Imperial units as required.
- Complete assigned design and drafting tasks in accordance with project schedules.
- Perform drawing self-checks and address feedback from design reviews to improve quality and accuracy.
- Participate in project and design review meetings.
- Collaborate with Senior Designers, Lead Designers, and Engineering to resolve drafting and design-related questions.
- Identify potential drawing conflicts or design issues and communicate them to project leads for resolution.
- Maintain project documentation and CAD files in accordance with company standards.
- Maintain professionalism when handling business-sensitive and confidential information.
- Perform all work in accordance with established quality (ISO 9001:2015) and safety procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Advanced Steel, or similar CAD software platforms.
- Ability to create accurate and buildable fabrication drawings with guidance as needed.
- Understanding of P&IDs, equipment layouts, piping systems, and drafting standards.
- Familiarity with fabrication and skid assembly practices.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Competence using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple assignments.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL POSSESS:
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 1-3 years of CAD design or drafting experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, process systems, or related environments.
- Experience with skid-based systems, piping, or fabrication support is an asset.
- Hands-on exposure to fabrication or assembly shop environments is a plus.
