A growing engineering and industrial design company is seeking an experienced AutoCAD Drafter to support the design and detailing of piping systems and pipe support structures for industrial projects. This position will work closely with engineers and project teams to create detailed fabrication and installation drawings while ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
The ideal candidate has experience using AutoCAD in an industrial environment and possesses a strong understanding of piping layouts, pipe supports, or structural steel detailing.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings for piping systems, pipe supports, structural components, and fabrication packages.
- Develop piping support layouts from engineering calculations and design markups.
- Modify existing drawings and prepare revisions based on engineering changes.
- Produce fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings for manufacturing and field construction.
- Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, P&IDs, and design documents.
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, project managers, and fabrication teams throughout project execution.
- Maintain drawing revisions and engineering documentation.
- Assist with equipment layouts, piping isometrics, and general arrangement drawings.
- Support multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Participate in design reviews and implement drawing revisions as required.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or Technical Diploma in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience in an industrial environment.
- Proficient with AutoCAD.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of drafting standards and dimensioning practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial piping systems.
- Knowledge of piping isometrics.
- Experience with P&IDs.
- Familiarity with ASME piping standards.
- Experience supporting power generation, chemical, oil & gas, manufacturing, or heavy industrial projects.
- Experience with CADWorx, Plant 3D, SolidWorks, Inventor, or Revit is a plus.
