Job description

Industrial Power Solutions, a Sundt Company, is a leading electrical manufacturing and automation solutions provider specializing in custom control panels, power distribution equipment, and engineered electrical systems for industrial applications. We support projects from concept and design through manufacturing, testing, and final delivery, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and innovation.

IPS is seeking a CAD Designer to support electrical manufacturing operations by developing detailed electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring schematics, and production documentation. This role is ideal for someone with at least 2 years of CAD or electrical design experience who is looking to grow their career through hands‑on training, mentorship, and exposure to complex electrical manufacturing projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive working relationships with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams.
  • Produce high quality work accurately and efficiently at all times.
  • Develop and revise electrical drawings, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and fabrication packages using CAD software.
  • Support engineers and designers in creating manufacturing documentation and production drawings.
  • Revise drawings based on engineering markups, customer comments, and production requirements.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards, manufacturing processes, and customer specifications.
  • Support panel shop personnel by answering drawing‑related questions and incorporating approved changes.
  • Continuously develop CAD, electrical design, and manufacturing knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of CAD, drafting, or related electrical design experience.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, control panels, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency or familiarity with CAD software.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical drafting software.
  • Familiarity with industrial control panels, power distribution equipment, or UL 508A panel manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of electrical symbols, wiring practices, and manufacturing documentation.

Physical Requirements
  • Work may involve extended periods at a workstation using computer aided design software.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and move throughout office and manufacturing environments as needed.
  • Occasional visits to manufacturing areas may be required to support production activities.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment when entering manufacturing or testing areas is required.
