Job summary

CACI International Inc. is seeking a CAD Designer in Danbury, CT to produce tooling and flight hardware within an integrated product team. You will work autonomously with oversight and deliver milestones for space and non-space programs.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical design on multiple projects through all phases of product lifecycle.
  • Create part models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs using Creo and PDMLink.
  • Implement requirements and minimize costs.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel to implement DFM into design work.
  • Complete and conduct program communications such as status reports and reviews.
  • Execute engineering design changes for parts and assemblies.
  • Actively participate in project scheduling and budgeting.
  • Validate concepts through models and prototypes.
  • Coordinate with all engineering disciplines to deliver complete packages.

The Opportunity:

This position requires an Engineer to apply technical skills for interdisciplinary tasks. You will be responsible for producing tooling and related flight hardware within an integrated product team. It is expected you will work autonomously with moderate oversight and be accountable for both space flight and non-space flight development program milestone deliverables.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform mechanical design on multiple projects through all phases of product lifecycle and take direction on tasks from lead project mechanical engineers

  • Create part models, assembly layouts, detailed drawings, and bills of materials using Creo for solid modeling and PDMLink for data management

  • Requirement implementation and minimizing costs

  • Work with manufacturing personnel to assess and implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) into design work

  • Complete and conduct various program communications such as status reports, meetings, and peer reviews

  • Execute engineering design changes for part and assembly drawings

  • Actively participate in project scheduling and budgeting

  • Validate concepts through engineering models and prototypes

  • Interact and coordinate with all engineering disciplines to deliver comprehensive design, engineering, and specification packages


Qualifications:

Required:


  • Exhibit ability to perform FEA (ANSYS, Creo Simulation, etc.)

  • Exhibit understanding in manufacturing and prototyping in an array of engineering materials

  • Exhibit ability to perform conceptual and detailed cost estimating within engineering discipline, exhibits estimating with other disciplines a plus

  • Exhibit ability to drive projects from initial concept through completion with minimal oversight

  • Adaptable to varying assignments as the design team grows and client base increases both in location and job responsibilities

  • Exhibit Creo skills with a commitment to best modeling practices

  • Exhibit understanding of GD&T

  • Computer skills and experience with CAD software (Creo preferred)

  • Good verbal/written communication and organizational skills

  • Exhibit knowledge to understand the manufacturability of designs

  • Exhibit knowledge to plan and prioritize work to meet schedules and quality requirements

  • May be willing to work overtime when required to meet customer milestones

  • Must display excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills

  • Exhibit computer skills in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Work well in a team environment with all disciplines to assist in the completion of all design & analysis activities

  • Contribute to achieving objectives primarily within functional area across the duration of major program milestones and stages or entire process development efforts

  • Perform work with limited supervision
