Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join the engineering team in New York. You will create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for mechanical systems, apply GD&T, and ensure designs comply with AASHTO, AREMA, and ASTM standards.

Responsibilities include collaborating with engineers, conducting basic FEA, preparing assembly documents, and supporting fabrication with precise drawings and documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred in engineering or related field.
• Proficiency with major CAD software and structural/mechanical drafting.
• Experience with GD&T and industry codes is desired.

Responsibilities

• Create precise 2D and 3D CAD models, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems.
• Produce detailed designs using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and related tools.
• Apply GD&T to ensure manufacturability and fit.
• Interpret codes like AASHTO, AREMA, and ASTM per project needs.
• Collaborate with engineers to refine system designs and resolve issues.
• Run FEA simulations to validate design integrity.
• Prepare assembly instructions and system schematics; maintain CAD data.
• Support construction and manufacturing with technical guidance.
