Footbridge Federal seeks an experienced mechanical designer to develop precision enclosures and opto-mechanical assemblies for defense programs in Massachusetts. You will work on intricate mechanical structures and EO/IR packaging, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team within a secure environment.

The role requires a Secret clearance and extensive hands-on CAD experience, including SolidWorks, CATIA or AutoCAD, and strong familiarity with Aras Innovator PLM for managing complex system data.

• Design and model precision mechanical enclosures, optical structures, precision drive systems, and specialized mountings.
• Support structural and thermal analysis efforts alongside environmental testing and component alignment procedures.
• Utilize digital modeling tools to author and manage system data within an enterprise product lifecycle management platform.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance (interim clearance acceptable to start).
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience utilizing SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or related 3D CAD platforms.
• 5+ years of experience working with the Aras Innovator PLM platform.
• Broad expertise in mechanism design, complex mechanical assemblies, and standard fabrication processes such as machining and sheet metal.
• Solid understanding of optical systems, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) packaging, and opto-mechanical subsystems.
• Familiarity with structural analysis, thermal analysis, and testing integration.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized background in opto-mechanical design and precision optical hardware integration.
• Hands-on experience executing system performance testing.
• Knowledge of military specifications and standardized hardware components.
