Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a designer for a contract position based in Phoenix, AZ, onsite at 2121 West Cheryl Drive. Responsibilities include preparing design drawings and BOMs, with pay range $25.00–$30.00/hr and 8-hour shifts, plus optional overtime.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma/GED and two years of AutoCAD coursework; Level II requires an Associate's Degree or AutoCAD cert plus two years of electrical utility design experience. Onsite, contractor role.

  • Provide field prints, check prints and working copies to expedite final engineering drawings and site wiring diagrams.
  • Maintain and update Design Configuration Documents using CADD and manual drafting techniques.

Description

SUMMARY Prepare/assist in the developing of design drawings, design change notices, bill of materials and other documents required for facility/plant modification, equipment and other projects. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Designer Level I

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Must have completed two years college or technical school course work in AutoCAD (AutoCAD AUD preferred) or a technical discipline or equivalent.
  • Specific Business Units may require one (1) year design experience in area of specialization.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communications and interpersonal skill, as well as PC skills in a Windows environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License required Designer Level II
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Must have minimum of Associate's Degree or technical school certification in AutoCAD (AutoCAD AUD preferred) plus two (2) years of electrical utility design experience.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal, communications and PC skills in a Windows environment.
  • Valid Driver’s License required Designer I
    1) Prepares or revises selected drawing (electrical/mechanical/civil/instrument) and other documentation subject to review by higher level Designers or Team Lead required for the installation, modification, and operation of all types of electrical/electronic facilities or equipment. Documentation may include: structural/physical layouts and details, block and signal diagrams, wiring and schematic diagrams, Bills of Materials, Requisitions on ROS and Shop Orders using manual or CADD techniques and related software.
    2) Gathers, organizes and develops Engineering data; perform field investigations to determine as built conditions and design requirements; performs studies and required computations for the development of design drawings with direction from higher level Designers or Team Lead.
    3) Provides lead personnel with field prints, check prints and working copies of documents to expedite generation of final engineering drawings; assists in development of site‑specific wiring diagrams and equipment layouts based on generalized standards and instructions.
    4) Insures conformance to procedures, government regulations and selected codes and standards in the performance of related tasks.
    5) Compiles all required documentation for assigned projects into a complete package, submits the package for review and approval and expedites transmittal of documentation to the appropriate field units and files with direction from higher level Designers or Team Lead.
    6) Maintains and updates all Design Configuration Documents through the use of CADD and manual drafting techniques.
    7) Develops an understanding and an ability to utilize all applicable systems and applications.
  • Designer II
    1) Produce accurate, concise, thorough, easily understood engineering documents, using manual or CADD techniques and related software; may assist in the development of Plant Design Change packages or simple to medium job package projects that are technically sound, within the schedule provided.
    2) Gather, organize and develop Engineering data; perform field investigations to determine as built conditions and design requirements; perform studies and required computations for the development of design drawings. May perform Plant walk‑downs for constructability and design verification.
    3) Ensure that all project commitments are achieved. Insure conformance to procedures, government regulations and selected codes and standards in the performance of related tasks.
    4) Compile all required documentation for assigned projects into a complete package, submit the package for review and approval and expedite transmittal of documentation to the appropriate field units and files.
    5) Apply appropriate skills to resolve issues and apply critical thinking in resolving problems.
    6) Demonstrate an understanding and an ability to utilize all systems and applications used in project design.
    7) Effectively work in a team environment and provide a positive contribution.

  • Would like someone to start as soon as possible
  • Must have minimum of Associate's Degree or technical school certification in AutoCAD (AutoCAD AUD preferred) plus two (2) years of electrical utility design experience (for a Level II) o If Level I, then please see specific minimum requirements below for that.
  • Additional callouts from leader: Need candidates strong in AutoCAD and with solid soft skills (collaboration is a major part of this role)
  • Role will be fully onsite o Work Location: Deer Valley (2121 West Cheryl Drive, Phoenix, Arizona 85021, Building A)
  • Contractor will be working Monday through Friday, 8 hours a day either 6am-2:30pm or 7am-3:30pm shift o Additionally, will have optional OT opportunity of up to 10 hours per week
  • Two year contract with possibility of extension
  • Will potentially need to drive an APS vehicle to check equipment out in field (so driving record screenings will be needed for this position)

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
