Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Perform computer-aided drafting (CAD) for the preparation of engineering drawings using industry-appropriate software. Use standard symbol sets and drawings to minimize drawing effort. Perform hand drafting as needed. Reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals.

Essential Roles And Responsibilities

1. Perform non-routine and moderately difficult to complex assignments and engineering drawings.
2. Work may involve areas lacking precedent.
3. Plan and conduct complete projects with diverse designs.
4. Perform design calculations, prepare material and equipment specifications, and provide preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
5. Support the project engineer by writing procedures and specifications, compiling and computing engineering data, estimating, etc.
6. Act as a lead over other designers and/or drafters.
7. Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report safety issues or concerns to management.
8. Maintain quality standards on all projects.
9. Work under the guidance and review of a Professional Engineer.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum 5-10 years of engineering design/drafting experience.
3. Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in engineering or drafting technology preferred.
4. Experience with OpenRoads Designer preferred.
5. Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
