Job description

The work

You will create high-quality training inputs for AI systems by designing, reviewing, and explaining sophisticated multi-part CAD assemblies. The work focuses on parametric modeling, assembly reasoning, design feasibility, and manufacturability.

You will explain the reasoning behind assembly architectures, component placement, mating strategies, tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturability. You will also document modeling practices, trade-offs, and design intent, review sample designs, provide detailed feedback, and contribute mentoring or educational content for other CAD users.

  • Interpret product requirements and create robust, manufacturable multi-part assemblies.
  • Create, annotate, optimize, and review 3D models using professional parametric CAD methods.
  • Explain CAD decisions, assembly intent, modeling strategies, trade-offs, tolerances, and feasibility.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and conversation in a remote, asynchronous setting.
What it pays and takes

This is a remote, part-time contractor role. The listing marks the experience level as entry level, while the role itself prefers substantial professional experience with complex multi-part assemblies.

  • Pay: $40-$90 per hour.
  • Time: 20+ hours per week.
  • Work location: Remote, subject to the role's eligible-country list.
  • Language: English.
  • Experience: Typically five or more years of professional CAD design experience with complex multi-part assemblies is preferred.
  • Credentials such as CSWE, CSWP, Autodesk Certified Instructor or Expert Elite, ASME GDTP, or SOLIDWORKS Champion may substitute for the formal experience preference.
  • CAD skills: Mastery of a major parametric CAD package such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge.
  • Requirements: Strong attention to detail and the ability to explain design logic, trade-offs, tolerances, mating strategies, manufacturability, and assembly intent.
  • Helpful background: Mentoring or teaching CAD users, enabling other CAD users, familiarity with FreeCAD, or prior AI experience. Prior AI experience is not required.
