Job summary

Priority Dispatch Corp. seeks a skilled cabling installer to install, terminate, and test low-voltage cabling including copper and fiber optic, following project specs and safety rules.

You will read blueprints, route cabling, label components, and maintain accurate documentation on site. The role requires a high school diploma, ability to work independently or with a team at customer sites, and a valid driver’s license for local travel.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience in structured cabling or related field preferred.
  • Experience installing and terminating copper and fiber optic cabling preferred.
  • BICSI certification or willingness to pursue certification preferred.
  • Ability to read work orders, diagrams, labels and installation instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Install, route, pull, dress, and terminate low-voltage cabling per project specs.
  • Test installed cabling systems and verify performance.
  • Troubleshoot cabling issues and identify deficiencies in installation or labeling.
  • Label cables, patch panels, ports, racks and related infrastructure per standards.
  • Maintain documentation including test results and as-builts.
  • Follow safety procedures and communicate project status to team.

Job description

Install, route, pull, dress, and secure low-voltage cabling, including copper, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling, in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and applicable industry practices.Terminate low-voltage cabling and related components, including patch panels, jacks, modular plugs, fiber enclosures, and equipment connections.Test installed cabling systems using appropriate test equipment and verify performance and installation quality.Troubleshoot basic to intermediate cabling issues and identify deficiencies in installation, connectivity, labeling, or performance.Install and support cable pathway systems and related infrastructure, including ladder rack, cable tray, J-hooks, sleeves, backboards, surface raceway, and communications room hardware.Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, elevations, installation drawings, and scope documentation.Label cables, patch panels, ports, faceplates, racks, and related infrastructure in accordance with company and project standards.Maintain accurate documentation, including test results, as-built information, material usage, and closeout details.Maintain clean, organized, and professional worksites and ensure all work is completed in a safe and orderly manner.Follow company safety procedures, customer site requirements, and jobsite rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment, ladders, lifts, and tools.Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, supervisors, general contractors, and internal team members regarding project status, issues, and support needs.Support service calls, moves/adds/changes, punch list items, and project closeout activities as assigned.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Basic knowledge of low-voltage and structured cabling systems.Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and standard testing tools safely and effectively.Ability to read and follow work orders, diagrams, labels, and installation instructions.Ability to work in customer environments, construction sites, ceilings, equipment rooms, and other field conditions.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if travel between job sites is required.Preferred QualificationsOne or more years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage installation, or a related field.Experience installing and terminating copper and fiber optic cabling.Experience in commercial cabling environments.Familiarity with industry installation standards and best practices.BICSI certification or willingness to pursue certification.Experience supporting related low-voltage systems such as wireless, audiovisual, access control, surveillance, or similar technologies.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of structured cabling systems, installation methods, and cabling infrastructure components.Skill in pulling, routing, dressing, terminating, labeling, and testing low-voltage cabling.Ability to identify installation issues and perform troubleshooting in the field.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks within project deadlines.Effective verbal communication and basic written documentation skills.Ability to maintain professionalism in customer-facing environments.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work overhead for extended periods.Ability to lift, carry, and move tools, materials, and equipment consistent with the demands of the role.Ability to climb ladders and work from elevated surfaces or lifts as required.Ability to work in tight spaces, above ceilings, below raised floors, and in active construction or renovation environments.Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions associated with installation and termination work.Work EnvironmentThis position primarily works at customer locations, construction sites, office environments, communications rooms, and other field locations.The role may require daily local travel and occasional work outside standard business hours based on project schedules, maintenance windows, or customer requirements.
