Job summary

APS has an immediate opening for a Cableman Journeyman on our (Surprise) Customer Construction West Crew. The job requires a Registered Journeyman Lineman or Electrician apprenticeship with at least one year of journeyman experience, plus a valid CDL Class A or permit and DOT readiness.

Applicants must reside within an hour of headquarters, pass written and hands-on exams, and demonstrate climbing skills. Overtime and work with aerial equipment are expected, with relocation possibility to

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. requirement.
• Completed a Registered Journeyman Lineman or Electrician Apprenticeship Program or equivalent training + 1 year journeyman experience.
• CDL Class A with ability to meet DOT requirements; must have at least a Class A permit at application; Arizona/Class A license if needed within 30 days of transfer date.
• Must live within a reasonable distance of headquarters (1 hour).
• Must pass written and hands-on exam and demonstrate climbing skills.
• Overtime may be required.
• Work with aerial equipment with weight restrictions of 300 pounds or less.
• HQ may relocate to HUBwest Service center, 38 miles west of downtown Phoenix.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Completed a Registered Journeyman Lineman or Electrician Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) PLUS one year experience as a Journeyman Lineman or Electrician**
• Commercial Driver's License (Class "A") with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record.
  • If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date.
  • If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
• Must live within reasonable distance of headquarters (one (1) hour).
• Must pass written and hands-on exam and successfully demonstrate climbing skills
• Reasonable and necessary overtime required
• Requires working with aerial equipment, which have weight restrictions of 300 pounds or less
• The established headquarters for this position is subject to relocation to the HUBwest Service center, a facility that will be located 38 miles west of downtown Phoenix, on a date to be determined by the Company

DOT Requirement

• Candidates must complete a post-offer, pre-placement DOT exam with an APS-designated provider at our Deer Valley clinic in coordination with Health Services
