Description

Assembler/Operator II will be responsible for assembling high-reliability electro-mechanical assemblies in our production area. This role involves preparing work by studying assembly instructions, drawing specifications, wiring diagrams, and parts lists, and gathering necessary parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. Assembler/Operator II will position cables, parts, and subassemblies using fixtures when needed, interpret assembly instructions, and assemble cables by cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and creating subassemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical cables and wiring harnesses according to customer drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Utilize soldering techniques to create secure and reliable connections for various cable components.
  • Perform crimping operations with precision to ensure proper termination of connectors and contacts.
  • Select appropriate electrical components and parts based on project requirements, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow established quality standards and testing procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of assembled electrical cables.
  • Perform related mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors to interpret technical drawings and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Maintain an organized and clean workspace, adhering to safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical assemblies, identifying and addressing issues promptly.
  • Document assembly processes and maintain accurate records of completed work.
  • Other duties may be assigned as business needs require.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical components, wiring, and assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and engineers.
  • Be willing to learn and adapt to innovative technologies and assembly techniques.

Education / Experience

  • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, preferably in cable/wire harness, electro-mechanical, or electronics assembly.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification in cable and wire harness assembly is a plus
  • Ability to follow basic work instructions and drawings.
  • Strong diligence and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a challenging environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly remain in a stationary position (standing or sitting) for extended periods while performing repetitive assembly tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to assemble small parts and operate hand or power tools with precision.
  • Regular repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements during assembly tasks.
  • Perform repetitive hand and arm motions for crimping, stripping, and handling small parts.
  • Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 15–25 pounds; occasionally up to thirty-five pounds with assistance or mechanical aids.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision (for wire identification), and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to detect, grasp, and manipulate small electrical components and tools.
  • Must be able to work in a light industrial environment with moderate noise levels and potential exposure to soldering fumes (PPE provided).
  • Ability to hear instructions, alarms, and safety signals, and communicate clearly with supervisors and team members. Hearing protection may be required in high noise areas.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is performed in a light industrial manufacturing/production environment. Regularly exposed to moderate loud noise levels from machinery and production activities, temperature variations, and potential soldering fumes (with proper ventilation provided). This role requires frequent standing or sitting at workstations for extended periods and occasional movement throughout the production floor. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, or other required gear must be worn as directed when in production areas.
