Job summary

Blue Ridge Communications seeks a cable technician to install, maintain, test, repair and replace cable systems and associated hardware, serving homes and businesses. The position involves installing high‑speed internet and digital telephone via coax, and requires physical work such as lifting up to 100 pounds.

Training leads to a 2nd shift / four 10‑hour days, with union membership and PA residency within 20 miles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or related experience preferred.
• Residency within 20 miles of base office in PA.
• Valid PA driver’s license with good driving record.
• Strong background in PCs and Windows.
• Background in electronics and knowledge of building structures.
• Knowledge of commercial phone systems.
• Excellent customer relations and communication skills.
• Ability to splice cable and work with electronics.
• Ability to climb poles and work aloft.
• Ability to travel as needed and work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, repair, and replace cable systems and hardware.
• Install high‑speed internet and digital telephone via coax.
• Load, unload equipment; perform general site maintenance.
• Work outdoors in all weather; adaptable to shift/odd hours.
