Job summary

Blue Ridge Communications is seeking a cable technician to install, maintain, test and repair our cable TV, high‑speed internet and digital phone services. The role includes handling equipment, performing maintenance, and occasionally traveling to customer sites within the service footprint.

Ideal candidates have a technical background, strong PC and Windows skills, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Must have strong PC skills and Windows knowledge.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; customer relations oriented.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, repair and replace cable TV, internet, and voice services.
• Load/unload equipment and perform routine maintenance at local office and in customers' environments.
• Work outside in all weather and travel within the service footprint.
• Follow safety policies and adapt to new technologies as needed.

Cable technicians areinvolved in the construction andinstallationof our various cable based servicesto customers. They install, maintain, test, repair and/or replace cable television transmission and distribution systems and associated hardware, including equipment in homes and commercial buildings.

Along with analog and digital cable TV signals, High-Speed Internet connections and Digital telephone via coax cable will also be part of the job. Other physical labor will be required from time to time, such as loading and unloading equipment, and general maintenance in and around the local office. Ideal candidates should strive to learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies and be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, any time of the day or night. Other duties as needed.

*The successful candidate will be required to acquire and maintain membership in the Union, and shall take up and maintain PA residency within a radius of twenty (20) miles of the base area office or within the county in which the office is based within one hundred twenty (120) days.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in related technical field or equivalent related experience preferred
• Established residency in Pennsylvania within 20 mile radius of base office
• Valid PA Driver’s License and good driving record
• Strong background in personal computers and Microsoft Windows
• Strong background in electronics
