Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a skilled Cable Technician to support a large-scale data center construction project in Red Oak, TX. The technician will be responsible for installing, routing, terminating, labeling, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling systems within a mission-critical data center environment.

Responsibilities include pulling Cat5e-Cat6 cabling, installing ladder rack and cable management, testing with Fluke equipment, reading blueprints, and connecting network gear.

Qualifications

OSHA Certification required prior to starting work.
Ability to read construction drawings and cable schedules.
Experience pulling and terminating copper and/or fiber cabling.
Strong attention to detail and reliability.

Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a skilled Cable Technician to support a large-scale data center construction project in Red Oak, TX. The technician will be responsible for installing, routing, terminating, labeling, and testing copper and fiber optic cabling systems within a mission-critical data center environment.

Responsibilities of the Cable Technician:

Install, route, secure, and dress copper and fiber optic cabling throughout the data center.
Pull Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cable through trays, conduits, and overhead pathways.
Terminate and test low-voltage copper and fiber cabling according to industry standards.
Install cable management systems including ladder rack, basket tray, J-hooks, and sleeves.
Label cables and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with project requirements.
Perform cable continuity and certification testing using Fluke and fiber testing equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, rack elevation drawings, and cabling schematics.
Install and connect network equipment, patch panels, server cabinets, and data center infrastructure components.

Qualifications of the Cable Technician:

1+ years of experience as a Cable Technician, Structured Cabling Technician, Data Center Technician, or Low Voltage Installer.
Experience pulling and terminating copper and/or fiber optic cabling.
OSHA Certification (required upon starting)
Familiarity with TIA/EIA structured cabling standards.
Ability to read construction drawings and cable schedules.
Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in active construction environments.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work extended periods standing, bending, and pulling cable.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Reliable transportation and ability to commute to the Red Oak project site.

Compensation for the Cable Technician:

Salary: $20.00 - $25.00/hr, commensurate with experience
Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision (through Cigna), 401k, Sick leave as required as by law
