Job summary

TEKsystems in Social Circle, GA seeks a Communications Technician I to join our team. This full-time role targets candidates with at least 1 year of commercial cabling experience and fiber optic knowledge, willing to travel to job sites.

The role involves installing outlets, pulling and terminating cables, building telecom closets, grounding systems, and completing mandatory documentation while upholding safety and quality standards. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with onsite work.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift, carry, and install cabling and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for floor monuments, modular furniture surface-mount boxes, and wall outlets.
• Pull, route, and dress cable through walls, ceilings, and modular furniture.
• Perform pre-termination procedures, including organizing and labeling cables, determining cable length and slack requirements, and dressing and securing cabling.
• Suspend and support cable using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze supports.
• Build and organize telecommunications closets by installing backboards, mounting racks and patch panels, and installing cross-connects and fiber hardware.
• Install grounding systems for racks, equipment, and cabling.
• Terminate low-voltage devices and cabling.
• Accurately complete required documentation, including timesheets, work orders, change orders, material transfers, and tool transfers.
• Adhere to all company, customer, quality, and safety standards.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated *Communications Technician I* to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with at least one year of commercial cabling experience who are looking to build their career in the structured cabling and low-voltage industry. The ideal candidate will have experience pulling fiber, a strong work ethic, and reliable transportation to travel to job sites.

Required Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Install work area outlets for:

• Pull cable through sleeves and core penetrations
• Terminate low-voltage devices and cabling
• Accurately complete required documentation, including:
  • Timesheets
  • Work orders
  • Change orders
  • Material transfers
  • Tool transfers
• Adhere to all company, customer, quality, and safety standards
• Complete additional duties as assigned

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
