Job summary

Essnova Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support ALS-U Cable Plant and electrical infrastructure at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

You will participate in the full engineering lifecycle from design to commissioning in a high-tech research setting. You will work with subsystem leads, engineers, technicians, and contractors to ensure electrical and cabling requirements are accurately developed and documented in accordance with NEC and LBNL/ALS-ASL-U

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of related experience.
• Experience designing electrical, electronics, and facility systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings including schematics and layouts.
• U.S. Citizenship required; NEC knowledge for AC distribution and installations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit or similar 3D tools.
• Experience with E-CAD tools for schematic capture and layout.

Responsibilities

• Support AC distribution, electrical equipment, cable routing, and related infrastructure design.
• Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and installation plans.
• Evaluate cable routing and tray/raceway solutions for ALS-U equipment.
• Apply NEC and project engineering practices to distribution and grounding.
• Select components based on reliability, safety, and codes; review documentation.
• Use CAD/3D CAD/BIM tools to develop and evaluate designs.
• Participate in design reviews and coordinate interfaces across disciplines.
• Support installation planning, material readiness, procurement, and kitting.
• Review field conditions and ensure installed work matches approved designs.
• Assist in commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
