Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Cable Engineer/Principal Cable Engineer Technical Services to join the team in McClellan, CA. You will provide technical guidance on cable and harness products, perform routing and documentation, and support prototype and production activities.

The role requires a BS in engineering or related field with experience in cable routing, CAD tools, and the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance. Travel and relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in science, engineering, or related discipline with 2 years of experience; or MS with no experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with cable/harness design, routing and documentation.
  • 2D and 3D cable routing and design experience with CAD packages.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice on installation, adaptation, configuration or enhancement of cable & harness products and systems.
  • Troubleshoot cable harness problems and modify products to customer requirements.
  • Support and participate in 3D cable routing and drawings; work at customer sites as needed.
  • Package CCAs and electronic modules for airborne environments; develop design reviews and technical data packages.
  • Collaborate within an integrated product team and share best practices.

We are looking for you to join our team as a Cable Engineer/Principal Cable Engineer Technical Services based out of McClellan, CA.

What You\'ll Get To Do

As an Engineer Technical Services, you will provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration or enhancement of company cable & harness products, programs and systems. You will provide expertise for resolving cable & harness problems, troubleshoot product and modify product to customer requirements. Work may be done at customer site. Includes software systems and programs designed for customers (corporate and individual) and government entities.

  • Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to cable & harness components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing.
  • Support 3D cable routing, Wiring Diagrams, and Interconnect Diagrams.
  • Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
  • Package CCAs and electronic modules for qualified use in demanding airborne environments
  • Identify and synthesize requirements using a system engineering approach to provide novel solutions
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing principles to drive down product costs and assembly time
  • Provide engineering oversight during prototype and production hardware assembly & test
  • Develop preliminary and critical design review content for peer and customer presentations
  • Create technical data packages including fabrication, source control, and assembly drawings
  • Employ strong interpersonal and communication skills while operating within an integrated product team
  • Promote knowledge transfer within the organization by sharing of lessons learned and best practices
  • Provide as needed engineering support to material review boards and failure review boards
  • Work with agility and minimal direction to complete program tasks on-time; failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources
Basic Qualifications For Cable Engineer Technical Services

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 2 years of experience; or 0 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree
  • An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Demonstrated experience with cable / harness design, routing and documentation
  • Demonstrated 2D and 3D Cable Routing and Design experience with CAD packages, Cable Routing using Siemens Capital or may consider similar packages
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI (access) security clearance
Basic Qualifications For Principal Cable Engineer Technical Services

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree
  • An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor of Science Degree
  • Demonstrated experience with cable / harness design, routing and documentation
  • Demonstrated 2D and 3D Cable Routing and Design experience with CAD packages, Cable Routing using Siemens Capital or may consider similar packages
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI (access) security clearance
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PTC Cabling, Solidworks, Siemens NX,
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with electromechanical or electronics cable design for airborne/military applications (may consider candidates with similar industry experience)
  • Experience in CAD Design packages, PTC Cabling, Solidworks Cable Routing, and Siemens NX/Siemens Capital
  • Diverse product development experience in flight qualified electronics packaging design
  • Proficiency with a PLM for releasing documentation
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Exceptional attention to detail, self-motivation, and self-regulation

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
