Job summary

Green River Technology seeks a Cable Assembly Engineer to own end-to-end engineering of custom cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and connectivity systems on-site in Fletcher, NC. Qualifications

• Associate or BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
• 2+ years in cable assembly or electrical connectivity manufacturing.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards and UL harness requirements.
• Able to work on-site in Fletcher, NC and communicate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Design & Component Selection: Evaluate customer parameters to specify optimal cables, connectors, backshells, shielding and overmolding solutions.
• Production Documentation & Costing: Develop 2D/3D CAD drawings, schematics, BOMs, ERP routings, and cost rollups for quotations and handoff.
• Prototyping & First-Article Validation: Define test protocols, set pass/fail criteria, and assemble/test prototypes with shop-floor technicians.
• Manufacturing Support: Create SOPs, identify tooling/dies, and troubleshoot issues to safeguard quality and throughput.

Green River Technology has been retained to recruit a Cable Assembly Engineer based on-site in Fletcher North Carolina.

The Opportunity

As the Cable Assembly Engineer, you will own the end-to-end engineering of custom cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and integrated connectivity systems. You will evaluate complex customer requirements, specify raw cable and connector components, build production documentation, and work side-by-side with manufacturing to ensure assemblies are electrically sound, mechanically resilient, and cost-effective.

Core Responsibilities

• Design & Component Selection: Evaluate customer application parameters to specify optimal continuous-flex or static cables, industrial connectors, backshells, shielding configurations, and overmolding solutions.
• Production Documentation & Costing: Develop 2D/3D CAD drawings (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), wiring schematics, detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), ERP routings, and component-level cost rollups to support quotations and production handoff.
• Prototyping & First-Article Validation: Define test protocols, set pass/fail criteria, and collaborate directly with shop-floor technicians to assemble, test, and qualify prototypes.
• Manufacturing Support: Author standard work instructions (SOPs), identify required assembly aids and tooling/crimping dies, and troubleshoot build issues to safeguard quality and production throughput.

Target Qualifications

• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD for schematics, layout, and harness drawings.
• Associate or BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent technical background).
• 2+ years of engineering experience in cable assembly, wire harness, or electrical connectivity manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of industrial jacket compounds (PVC, PUR, TPE), shielding practices, and motion control connectivity (servo, encoder, stepper).
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards and UL harness requirements.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with sales teams, external customers, and shop-floor personnel.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
