Job summary

A leading electronic manufacturing company in Austin is seeking an experienced candidate for the wire harness assembly role. Responsibilities include assembling complex cable harnesses, conducting tests, and ensuring quality workmanship. Ideal candidates will have at least 4 years of experience, be organized, and demonstrate effective communication skills. Qualifications

  • Must have 4+ years of experience in manufacturing/assembly line.
  • Ability to comprehend process documentation including Bills of Materials.
  • Organized with the ability to keep count of parts.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow wire harness assembly instructions/blueprints.
  • Cut and strip wire to specifications.
  • Crimp terminals to wire ends.
  • Install insulation sleeving and cable ties.
  • Route, wire, and assemble electronic components.
  • Conduct functional and continuity tests.
  • Use a solder iron for soldering wires to switches.
  • Perform visual inspections of assemblies.

Skills

Wire/Cable harness assembly experience
Familiarity with IPC J-STD-001
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620
Ability to read process documentation
Good organizational skills
Effective communication in English

Education

High school diploma
Associate degree (preferred)

Summary: The candidate is responsible for the assembly of complex cable and wire harness assemblies. The candidate must demonstrate quality workmanship and produce high quality assemblies that exceed our customer’s expectations, in accordance with industry standards.

Job Duties:

  1. Ability to read and follow wire harness assembly instructions/blueprints

  2. Cut and strip wire to specifications

  3. Crimp terminals to wire ends

  4. Install and shrink insulation sleeving

  5. Install cable ties

  6. Route, wire, and assemble electronic components using wire layout fixtures

  7. Operate equipment such as crimp presses, wire twisters and wire strippers

  8. Conducts functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies using friendly test fixtures

  9. Use of a solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors

  10. Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products

  11. Work with minimal supervision from the Production Department Supervisor

  12. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Wire/Cable harness assembly experience is a must

Familiar with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620

Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in a manufacturing/assembly line

Expected to read and comprehend process documentation including Bills of Materials and Assembly drawings

Expected to communicate well in English both verbally and in written format

Candidates should be very organized with the ability to keep count of parts

Candidates should have the ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

Education:

  1. High school diploma

  2. associate Degree (preferred)
