Job summary

BSU Electronics is seeking a skilled assembler for complex cable and wire harness assemblies. The candidate must demonstrate quality workmanship and produce high-quality assemblies per industry standards.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, cutting and wiring, crimping, soldering, and inspection under supervision from the Production Department Supervisor. Strong organization and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Wire/Cable harness assembly experience is required.
• Must read and comprehend process documentation including BOMs and assembly drawings.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow wire harness assembly instructions/blueprints.
• Cut and strip wire to specifications.
• Crimp terminals to wire ends.
• Install and shrink insulation sleeving.
• Install cable ties.
• Route, wire, and assemble components using wire layout fixtures.
• Operate crimp presses, wire twisters and wire strippers.
• Test wire harnesses and cable assemblies using test fixtures.
• Solder wires to switches or connectors with a soldering iron.
• Inspect in-process assemblies and finished products for quality.

Summary

The candidate is responsible for the assembly of complex cable and wire harness assemblies. The candidate must demonstrate quality workmanship and produce high quality assemblies that exceed our customer’s expectations, in accordance with industry standards.

Job Duties

• Ability to read and follow wire harness assembly instructions/blueprints


• Cut and strip wire to specifications


• Crimp terminals to wire ends


• Install and shrink insulation sleeving


• Install cable ties


• Route, wire, and assemble electronic components using wire layout fixtures


• Operate equipment such as crimp presses, wire twisters and wire strippers


• Conducts functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies using friendly test fixtures


• Use of a solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors


• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products


• Work with minimal supervision from the Production Department Supervisor


• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Wire/Cable harness assembly experience is a must


• Familiar with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620


• Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in a manufacturing/assembly line


• Expected to read and comprehend process documentation including Bills of Materials and Assembly drawings


• Expected to communicate well in English both verbally and in written format


• Candidates should be very organized with the ability to keep count of parts


• Candidates should have the ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

Education

• High school diploma
