Are you an expert at the fine cabinetry? Do you love to work with employees to help them become better? Platt Builders is an award-winning residential renovation and custom cabinetry company based in Groton, MA. We work with clients all throughout MetroWest/Middlesex County. This supervisory role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our high-end cabinetry production as well as the general operation of the shop as an integral part of the overall company. You will plan the schedule, order the material, and oversee the production of cabinetry in a timely and on-budget manner, collaborate with the Project Managers and Lead Carpenters for installation of cabinetry, and manage the shop team while creating a safe, fun, and highly productive team environment. This growth role is a key part of the entire company.

We need you to build cabinetry alongside your team while running the shop profitably, be a great people manager, and organize the team so that it keeps its main focus: building beautiful cabinetry and millwork of exceptional and enduring quality.

What we need:

  • In-depth knowledge of cabinetry construction, finishing, and installation – including materials, construction techniques, tools, equipment and best practices - and the ability to perform these tasks to Platt standards; this position is 50% production/50% management
  • Ability to work as part of a team and integrate the Shop with other teams within the company (Field, Admin, Painting)
  • Experience and skill as a people manager with excellent communication skills and a desire to teach
  • Understanding of and the ability to effectively communicate electronically, maintain and track financial goals, and inventory, estimate, and approve documents
  • Ability to work in CAD and other programs as needed
  • Experience with and understanding of plans, cut sheets, parts lists, and diagrams
  • Experience with and understanding of wood species and wood movement
  • Experience with and understanding of finishes, dyes, stains, and coatings
  • Good understanding of professional cabinet shop machinery, the ability to perform simple maintenance tasks, and the management of third-party machinery technicians
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work as required, including the ability to lift 100 pounds
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must act and dress professionally
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed

What is in it for you:

A rewarding career where you are well paid, well respected and challenged. Our benefit package includes paid vacation days, paid holidays, health and life insurance benefits with a 75% employer contribution, as well as a 401k plan with a company match.
