Job summary

Clear Millwork in Ventura, CA is seeking a Cabinetry Apprentice to learn from skilled cabinetmakers and prepare, cut, assemble, and install custom cabinetry and woodworking projects.

You'll work with hand and power tools, measure precisely, sand, stain, and finish pieces, and maintain a clean, safe workspace while supporting inventory and teamwork to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience as an Apprentice carpenter or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in this work, or equivalent.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Able to use common hand tools and power tools.
  • PPE and carpentry trade tools.
  • Troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Physical stamina for lifting equipment and working at various heights and in tight spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of materials and tools for cabinet making.
  • Learn and follow cabinet-making plans to create high-quality finished products.
  • Assemble and install cabinetry using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Measure and cut materials to specific dimensions to fit into custom spaces.
  • Sand, stain, and finish cabinets and apply hardware.
  • Operate and maintain machinery and follow safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and assist with inventory management.

About the Role:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a cabinetry apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced cabinet makers to learn the skills required to design, build, and install custom cabinets and other types of woodworking projects.

Duties:

  • Assisting with the preparation of materials and tools for cabinet making, including cutting, shaping, and sanding wood and other materials.
  • Learning and understanding cabinet-making plans and specifications and following them to create high-quality finished products.
  • Assembling and installing cabinetry, including cabinets, drawers, and shelves, using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Measuring and cutting materials to specific dimensions to fit into custom spaces, and ensuring that all pieces fit together perfectly.
  • Sanding, staining, and finishing cabinets to ensure a smooth and uniform appearance, and applying hardware such as knobs and handles.
  • Learning to operate and maintain machinery such as saws, drills, and sanders, as well as safety procedures associated with using these machines.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, and assisting with inventory management and tracking of supplies and materials.
  • Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong interest in woodworking and cabinetry making, a willingness to learn and take direction, and the ability to work collaboratively with others. You should also be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to lift and carry heavy materials as required. Some previous experience in woodworking or related fields may be preferred but is not required.

Qualification Requirements
  • Training Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school.
  • Experience as a Apprentice carpenter or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in this work; or any equivalent combination of experience a
