Job summary

Woodcraft Rangers in California is seeking Cabin Leaders to create a safe, fun camp experience for youth. You will supervise campers, lead activities, and collaborate with staff to uphold camp policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED (AA Degree in Child Development or related field preferred).
• First Aid/CPR certification required (training provided).
• TB clearance and Livescan/background check with DOJ and FBI.
• Health history record submission prior to first day of work.

Responsibilities

• Focus on camper development including social skills and leadership.
• Ensure safety and well-being of each camper.
• Model rules, procedures, and camp routines for campers and staff.
• Develop and implement camp activities in collaboration with the team.
• Lead all-camp activities and supervise evening programs and overnights.
• Maintain safety and healthcare procedures throughout camp sessions.

Role Overview:

Cabin Leaders play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and supportive camp experience for campers. This position focuses on camper development by fostering social skills, responsibility, confidence, leadership, and positive communal living. Cabin Leadersare responsible forthe daily care, supervision, and well-being of campers, while serving as positive role models who follow and reinforce camp policies,routinesand expectations.

In this role, Cabin Leaders activelyparticipatein planning and leading camp programs and activities, both within their unit and across the entire camp community. Theyassistin a variety of program areas, help implement schedules and behavior expectations, and support evening programs,special events, and overnights. Cabin Leaders work collaboratively with the camp core team to ensure all safety, health, and emergency procedures are followed, while making sure campers are engaged, supported, and having fun throughout their camp experience.

Responsibilities:

Focus on camper development (social skills, communal living skills, responsibility, self-esteem, leadership development, etc... )

Ensure the safety and well-being of each camper

Be a role model to campers and staff, follow rules and procedures and set a good examplein regard tocamp procedures (sanitation, schedule, sportsmanship, teamwork,etc…)

Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers

Lead activities with unit and entire camp during all-camp activities

Assistin program areas such as nature, archery, lowropesand other camp activities as directed

Maintain all safety procedures, healthcareand emergency procedures

Implement program activities and schedule

Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leadingthose asassigned.

Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs,special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.

Ensure campers havefun!!It’scamp!

Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum High School Diploma or GED (AA Degree in Child Development or a related field preferred);prior experienceworking with groups of K-12 students in an academic or recreational setting preferred.

Must be First Aid/CPR certified. (Training provided by Woodcraft Rangers)

Possess attributes that contribute to camper success (enthusiasm, integrity, compassion, trustworthiness,patienceand respect)

Experience working with youth in a camp environment preferred, a minimum of one year working with youth in any setting.

Ability to perform traditional camp activities (hike, chants, stand for extended periods of time, etc.)

Possess the cognitive, auditory, and visual abilities to perform described duties at camp

Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects

Must be able to stay at camp in Big Bear Valley, CA during camp sessions
